Addictive and amazing. This game is a pleasure from start to finish.

I hadn't played the first two games in the series and wasn't sure if I should have gone for them before this one, but ended up digitally buying this when I needed distraction from studying for finals.
Best choice ever! Well, apart from the fact that it sucked up so much of my time with its versatile gameplay that I've ended up screwing myself over on schoolwork. The stealth aspect is great, especially because with most enemies, if you get tired of waiting around for them to walk by at the right moment you can always turn to more conspicuous antics. Looting and stealing never gets old either. Suffice it to say, by the end of the game I experienced a huge letdown because there would be no further opportunities to act thievishly. I hope I don't get tempted to emulate Garret in real life!
I hear the other two games are classics as well, which makes sense, and of course many die-hard fans of the series consider the first game the superior one, but I have no regrets for choosing this game first and am drooooling at the thought of a 4th in the series. They'd better not deviate too much from the gameplay/storyline type of this game! Also, my desire to play more stealth games is further strengthed, because Thief has made me see that stealth action can be just as fun as jumping into things pell-mell.
The only frustrations I experienced with Thief DS is that, at least for this PC version (also a digital download, so that had something to do with it probably) there were multiple glitches, but fortunately I always backed up a couple of saves and if anything the glitches added to my experience because they provided some hilarious situations and opportunities for screen shots. I would just definitely recommend having multiple save files and saving often enough to avoid disaster when (e.g.) you get stuck on a ladder and die by falling off of it into the floor, which is actually the sky (wtf?). My absolute favourite thing about the game has to be the voice acting. It's just so unbelievably great, between the witty comments by some npcs and the confusion of others (while you giggle at their AI ignorance), Garrett's sarcasm, plus much more. I might end up loading a couple old saves just to get to parts with particularly comical dialogue and enjoy the banter to lighten my day.
Thief: Deadly Shadows is an unmissable game, no questions asked.
