19 years. It's been that long since the original The Secret of Monkey Island has been released. Those years have passed like a blink. Just a mere memory stays in my mind. But the memory of Monkey Island never vanishes. And now 19 years later, in the 21-st century I can enjoy a true remake of the game. The feeling when I launched the game and heard the voice of Guybrush for the first time in The Secret of Monkey Island is just priceless. And the theme melody, oh, the theme melody. It just sucks you right in and 1 minute after you have launched the game you already think and act as a pirate. The Carribean atmosphere surrounds you and no matter if you play while the temperature outside is -20 degree on Celsius you imagine how the warm wind sweeping across your hair. You can even feel the smell of the seven seas and be know that it is time for pirating. That's how deep the game can suck you in its atmosphere. Old pirates will be in their waters and they won't have any problems mastering the game. Everything from the original is kept as it was or has suffered some minimal remake that is needed because of the changes in all those years. The graphics are beautiful. It's like you are in a world made by an master artist who knows how to use the brush. And if you want to view how the graphics have changed from the original game just use the ingame option that switches between the graphics of the original game and the new design. I admit that this is probably the most innovative idea in the game. There are no changes at the story, nor the primary gameplay. Exactly like a remake must look like. And so if you want to replay the game and see what the refreshment is, or if you are curious to see what is that game that made a furore in the early 90s and is still believed to be one of the best adventure games get yourself a copy of The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition. Now you can't use the excuse that the graphic sucks and there is no voice acting. So go and be a pirate! Isn't that what Guybrush wants?
Oh, and please beware of the three-headed monkeys. ARRRRRRR!
