The game that started a Legendary series
The Legend of Zelda is a memorable game.It uses action/adventure gameplay with an RPG style.You can explore the world in a non-linear fashion,and you can find secret/more powerful weapons and armor and you'll need to travel deep into dungeons to retrieve items that you'll need to travel to other places in the world.
The story is about how a villain named Ganon and his army invaded a kingdom named Hyrule and Ganon stole an artifact known as the triforce of power to make himself extemely powerful.The princess named Zelda split up the pieces of another artifact named the triforce of wisdom and hid them in secret dungeons,so afterwards Ganon kidnapped Zelda and took her to his fortress.
An elf boy named Link decides to go and search for the pieces of the artifact of wisdom so he will be powerful enough to stand a chance against Ganon and to be able to rescue Zelda.But it won't be that easy as the land and dungeons that he'll need to travel through are filled with many dangerous creatures.Link will need to explore the world and find where the dungeons are too and some enemies will attack you from the sea or air besides just the ground and when you travel across mountains you'll need to avoid giant boulders that can drop on you.
The gameplay allows you to move up,down,left,right and you can also find hidden hearts throughout the world(which increase your max health points and is a way you can kind of level up Link)but your health only restores to the original health level you began the game with after you die and you can increase your health level by finding little red colored objects that are sometimes left behind after you kill an enemy.
The weapons you can use are a sword(that shoots projectile copies of itself when Link's health is at full),bow(which you'll need to buy or find arrows to use with it),boomerang(which stuns enemies),bombs that create powerful explosions but are expensive to buy,a magic wand that can cast spells to weaken certain enemies and bosses.
You can improve your armor buy finding more powerful armor and shields and rings which reduce damage inflicted on you by enemies.
You will start off only with a sword and shield but you can find the other weapons in the dungeons.To use your shield you'll need to position Link's shield so enemy projectiles.
The world was a very big and open world to explore for it's time,there's many secrets to discover and a variety of environments to explore such as waterfalls,places with trees and vegetation,lakes,beachside,mountains.The world is fairly detailed for it's time,because you'll see the differences between beach sand and normal soil and the world has diverse environments.
This game was one of the first NES games to use a save feature too and is quite lengthy for a game for it's time.
The things I don't like about the gameplay are the enemies in the dungeons become very tough eventually and that's not including the bosses and sometimes there's a bit of trial by error such as grinding your way through a dungeon and discovering that you don't have enough bombs to blow a hole in a wall and you'll need to do that to progress further
The music has an enjoyable and was still used for later Zelda games more than a decade later.
Link is an inconic character with his green outfit,sword and shield and it made him look like a true adventurer.
TLoZ is one of the best and most creative 8-Bit games ever made.
