The story of a Boy and his Talking Hat!

This review is from the perspective of someone, being me, who has never finished a hand held 2D Zelda game.

Minish cap is actually quite good. The graphics are probably the best of all the 2D Zelda's, Phantom Hourglass is not that great. The world is colorful and well put together. It's surprisingly easy to pickup and learn the ropes.

The game features tons of weapons, most of which get lots of use. However some items such as the boomerang feel slapped on and I wish we would have gotten the Fire Rod as opposed to the Lantern.

Enemies are varied, which is fantastic. However I do wish the combat system had a little more to it. Fighting Iron Knuckles (Knights as some may call them) is probably the hardest enemy in the game and only because you have very few ways of dispatching them. You can learn a bunch of sword techniques and eventually get the Hurricane spin slash but most aren't worth trying to perform.

Most of the game though has unique dungeons and fresh feeling boss fights. Some of the puzzles are insanely hard, such as blowing up hidden walls and figuring out where to go sometimes which does take away from the game's tempo. I found the only REALLY challenging part of the game was the last dungeon and the final boss which I had to attempt twice before I got it down.

Overall Minish cap is a great game and if your looking to get into the 2D Zelda games this is good stepping stone for beginners.

P.S. Fairies just ain't what they use to be, bring Red Potions.
