Wow, I'm the only one on Gamespot as of this review to have this game. And yet, I'm not all that surprised...

User Rating: 5.8 | The Hunt for Red October SNES
This gamecome from an era where every single movie ever created got a video game anyways. It didn't matter if the movie was good, or if the game was good, it was just made anwyas. The Hunt For Red October is a brilliant movie, and using SNES technology, it isn't easy to transfer to a game. So, what do you do? Simple. Focus on the basic action based elemnts of submarines.

What you get with this game is a basic side scrolling shooter, similar to 'Copter', but only now your a submarine underwater. To can shoot torbedoes and missiles up, straight, down, and arc them as well. You can control your sub to rise up and down, and move left to right on the screen, which continuisly moves to the right. Enemy subs and helicopters are out to get you from all angles, and it's up to you to make it to the end of the level in one peice. Just blow up everything that get's in your way, and you'll be fine.

And that's pretty much the entire game really. The levels get more challenging as more and more enemies swarm your sub, but other then that, gameplay doesn't really change. Other then the fact your a submarine which looks like The Red October, it has nothing else to do with the movie. It's pure name power selling a mdeiocre game. (sounds familiar...)

Overall, it's an amusing game, but definitly not worth going out and getting. I mean for christ sakes, I've got a version of this on my cell phone.
