Even worse than I expected.

User Rating: 5 | The History Channel: Battle for the Pacific PS2
Pros...

- High framerate
- A new game for fans of this genre :p

Cons...

- Short
- Unchallenging/stupid enemy AI
- Uninteresting objectives
- Numerous "invisible walls"

I'm giving this game a "5.0" only because I reaaaally do enjoy ww-shooters.
So, if you also enjoy these games it might be worth a rental.
I'm saying this because, honestly, for an fps in general and in this period of time it is really bad.

This game is short (I'm only halfway through but approximately 5-6 hours in total). Can't say I'm very fond of this "jungle-fever" (MOH: pacific assault anyone?) this game offers, but it is in the pacific islands so what did I expect!
Oh, and you think those jungles offers alternate routes to your objectives. Hell no, it's one objective at a time and one path to take. Try to walk off from the path and you'll hit your nose on an invisible wall.
But who'd want to walk around on a dull island were almost nothing happens anyway... and that is to say the objectives are no more than boring.

It seems every mission starts out on the beach on an island were you'll walk into the middle of it, get/destroy something and then get back to were you begun, with some minor objectives like "kill the sniper" and stuff. Of course those challenging enemies will make it a fun ride, won't they?

Yes how about the enemy AI... Well, it's absolutely disastrous; they pretty much either just run towards you or stand still on their spot. Ok, they do shoot back ;) but I haven't seen them throw a grenade at me yet or even try to take cover for that matter. And they're ugly too :p

Yep. The graphics are pretty bad I guess, misses details and stuff. But then again I will have this much more than nicer graphics with constant stuttering, because this game has really smooth framerate wich, imo, really is much more important.

Music? What music?... It's pretty quiet in those jungles but at the times it does play it at least fits the theme, not that you'll notice it much but will make it a bit less dull I think ;)
Soundeffects are all heard before, in every other ww-shooter on the ps2.

So, I've tried my best to be fair, to the ps2, in my opinion here. Though having played games like Cod 4 and Crysis lately makes it a bit hard ;)
But I do think this game is for fans of this genre, who needs these games as much as anybody needs air, period.
