This is basically Grand Theft Auto, but with a 1950's Italian Mob Twist!
The Godfather has a lot of aspects from Grand Theft Auto, killing rivals, hijacking cars, doing missions, etc. But the difference that seems obvious and kinda silly, is a great difference, instead of a gang, it's a Mob. And the Sicilian mob. Most Grand Theft Auto games, people just run around doing random, stupid, pointless s***, am I right? Damn right. But in this, even if you have nothing to do than just random killing sprees, you can do other Mob-like activities, such as robbing banks, extorting businesses, yadda-yadda-yadda. Another good thing is the side-missions, there are only about 3, which are performing hits, doing favors (Never actually repetitive.), and bombing drug storage of other Mobs (These are always amazingly challenging).
But there is always bad news, it's like CNN, always bad news. The main missions can get quite repetitive, but the storyline is very good, makes you feel like an actual Sicilian. Anyway, another flaw is a very short arsenal, only guns such as pistols, Tommy guns, shotguns and bombs are actually there, but luckily, there are upgrades, so not all is lost, oh yes, and melee weapons such as Baseball bats, pool cues, shovels, yeah. And last but not least, even if it seems like it, the character creator is very small and tough to use, a very limited look that you can have, pretty damn hard to make a good face, but that's not important, but it is to me!
All in all, a splendid game that may seem like a regular Grand Theft Auto game, but much less boring, repetitive, and pointless, for this (if you were to put it like Grand Theft Auto series) is probably the best, other than Grand Theft Auto IV, since it was so great, but yes, try it!
