A good game which is let down by a poor story.

After a shaky first level of the game which leaves you with only regular weapons, I wasn't sure how good the game would actually be. Once you get hold of the Darkness' powers, the game really kicks up a notch and adds a whole new dimension to the action.

One thing I thought would get on my nerves was the fact that to use the powers to their max, you have to shoot out all the lights. This was actually a masterstroke as it meant that to get by, you couldn't just turn on the Darkness and let rip on the bad guys. You either have to take a more cautious approach hiding in the shadows, or use the regular guns in broad daylight.

Each of the four powers have their benefits although the black hole one is like cheating almost considering how powerful it is compared to the others. A lot of reviews suggest that the normal guns aren't effective enough but I couldn't find a lot wrong with them.

The game's setting was also pretty good. It had the run down-gritty effect that lends itself very well to the game. The second and fourth sections of the game are set back in one of the World Wars and although it makes for a change of scenery, it really doesn't fit well into the game.

All in all the game is fairly good. It really is only let down by the lack of a decent storyline. I ended up skipping most of it as I was finding it hard to follow.
