Ok to start off, yes this game is Linear, and yes the graphics seem outdated. Now as soon as you tell yourself that last little bit before you start playing you will have a much better time. The combat is pretty bad and there isn't much to explore off the beatin path. Demonicon isn't here to topple the Skyrim empire, so lets just talk about what Demonicon does shine at. Demonicon biggest strength is it being a part of the "Dark Eye" setting. Think of it as an European D & D. The game already has a mountain of Lore to draw from which makes making the story a little bit easier. The story for the most part is the strongest part. It tells a dark tale, with a few twists and turn, which will keep you interested from the start to the 30 hour or so finale. In conclusion I think the price was worth it and I had a lot of fun with it. Don't let your standards get in the way, it's not Darksouls. Now I plan on going to play some of the other Dark Eye games I didn't really know about.
Well they made a great improvements with River of Time, but I don't like the direction they took it off... so I would like to mention to those that are looking for new story and game play style of old titles, it is not happening.
Thanks for the review. I'm an RPG nut, and I loved the Drakensang games. I'll definitely check this one out.
So you are saying its linear, visually outdated and the combat (gameplay) is bad, so how do you justify giving it a 9?
both Drakensang PC games are pretty good if you're into real RPG style. Demonicon is a way more action oriented game than Drakensang: The Dark Eye and/or Drakensang: The River of Time. i enjoyed both of them more than Demonicon but am definitely liking this one also.
