The original Tetris was programmed by the Russian mathematician Aleksej Pajitnov in 1985. The game was a huge success and was ported over to many other consoles like Commondore 64, Apple II and the Gameboy.

The gameplay of Tetris is very simple. Blocks fall down and you have to put them together without leaving gaps. When you fill an whole row the blocks on that row disappears. As you progress, the blocks will fall faster and faster.

Does the concept sound to simple for you? Yes, it is as simple as it can possibly get, but even though it's very simple, it's insanely addictive. As soon as you've started playing the game, it's impossible to stop!

Tetris is a game that will always be remembered and played for all time. A very few games are so good that people will actually keep playing the game 20 years after they where made. (other than retro-freaks) Tetris is one of these games. Even to this day, it seems that there's a new version of tetris coming out (for example quadra pop for cell phones) but there can really only be one real tetris game, and the one you're playing on the gameboy is that game! The gameboy version sold for over 30.000000 copies, and after playing it, I can understand why!
