Tempest X3 is a PlayStation rerelease of Tempest 2000 for the Atari Jaguar... which is a remaster (of sorts) of the original Tempest arcade game. And despite looking simple on the surface... this game is great for what it is! Tempest X3 mixes action-packed gameplay, psychedelic visuals (brought to you by Atari Melt-O-Vision™), and thumping techno to thrilling effect. Tempest X3 does a great job of spicing up the timeless gameplay of the original arcade game. The visuals are... something, to say the least. Very psychedelic and flashy. And the music... it's very subjective. If you like late 90's trance/techno, then it's for you. If not... you may want to turn the volume down.
All in all, this game is a very good arcade shooter, that deserves a place in any PS collector's library.
It even has a yiff cheat code! (Not what it sounds like, I promise.)
