High hopes dashed

Having grown up with the franchise I had a great wish for this game to succeed. However unfortunately it fell greatly from the dream full perch; I had placed it on.

I found the buggy twitchy camera, which was never quite sure what it should be focusing on, frustrating to say the least. It did allow you time, with all its movement, to admire the bland scenery.

The combat itself is simple enough to get to grips with, followed by master in seconds and get bored of in minutes.

Aside from the aforementioned level design, the character models are solid enough that they fill their purpose. Enemies are varied enough throughout based on environment. However almost all enemies of same type look completely identical in every way (not that I am asking for huge variations, even basic hair colour changes would be enough.)

The story is entertaining enough , also the writers have done well to encapsulate the TMNTesque attitude and flair. Although for me it was not enough to keep me entertained inbetween the great cartoon strip segments.

Coop is a nice addition, all be it only online. Having the other turtles around is good for bouncing around in combat but the joy and satisfaction soon fades.

In the end it is only a £10 ($15) game, obviously it doesn't quite have the same budget or development team as AAA games. This being said many games have accomplished a lot more for the same price tag.
