A highly addictive dungeon crawl involving deep character customization and a lot of fair humor. Easily a great RPG.

Let's get it straight to the point: Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology is anything BUT boring. The story may be typical RPG fare (hero out to save the world being pursued by a monster) but then, think about it: FFVII is about a band of heroes out to save the world from a maniac, but it sold so well, it became one of the best RPGs of all time.

Radiant Mythology is an entertaining game, generally. It's also the first "real" Tales game on the PSP. With that said, it uses the PSP's strengths to its advatage.

Graphically, it's a treat. The dungeons have a good fog effect that can block off any weird polygonal pop-up happening. The dungeon designs vary (depending on the dungeon, of course), and their mechanics do, too. For example, one dungeon has no real hallways or corridors, but warps to get to another place. Another involves labyrinthine designs that easily confuse you. All are clean and pretty much a treat. Speaking of treats, the character designs themselves look great. Each character has his/her own set of clothing, from the head down to the feet, so nobody looks like a generic RPG character dumped with an armor and sword.

The gameplay itself wins the pack. Dungeons are huge, making it worthwhile to explore every inch. Each dungeon packs its own set of treasures and creatures. The battle system can also be customized to your liking, from the attitude of your comrades down to the Artes they (and you) can use. Artes are special techniques, and each class has its own unique Artes. Artes are customizable, meaning you choose what Artes you'll be utilizing and when you will use them in battle.

Towns are packed with places to see. There are tool shops, blacksmiths, inns and a lot more. These places will definitely help you with your quests.

Speaking of quests, Tales is the treasure trove of quests. The game is literally filled with quests, each giving you rewards that you can use to gain higher ranks in your guild. And the good thing is that these quests are as addictive as chocolate: You can't get enough of them.

The music is pretty fair, with a good background music and voicing to boot.

So, generally, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology is a great RPG. A great game. Something you will stick to for so long.
