Backtrack galore

Good

- the characters are pretty interesting, especially Luke. I like how he went from a brat to becoming a more considerate and mature person. It's also nice to see the party acknowledge his progress.

- the environments were quite detailed and large in scale. Interesting to look at.

Bad

- some of the plot points weren't concluded. What happened to Tear's sickness? She was on the verge of dying, but she was suddenly ok?

- way too much backtracking in the later part of the game. I literally just backtracked to a city, watched a cutscene, followed by an un-fastforward-able skit, then backtracked to the next city, and repeat. This was extra annoying when I didn't have fast travel. But even after I could fast travel, it was still annoying as ever, cause I still had to trek into the same city for the millionth time. This felt like padding to increase length of the game. It would've been better if the game teleported me straight to the next area to watch the cutscene.

- controlling the plane in the overworld felt annoying. It was ambiguous as to where you can, and cannot land. There were many areas where it was flat land where it looked like I could land, but couldn't. And some other areas that looked exactly the same, where I could land. This caused me to often circle around to look for a landing spot.

- the story gets quite confusing. Fonons, Lorelei, hyperresonance. These things are explained as the game progresses, but it all the details just didn't really interest me much.
