While not ground-breaking, Tales of Eternia is a well-done, long, engrossing and satisfying RPG for PSP.

After playing and enjoying Tales of The World - Radiant Mythology for the PSP, I went searching for more. I was disappointed to discover that the fan-loved Tales of Eternia for PSP was never released in the USA, and likely won't be.

After digging a bit more, I discovered that it's readily available in Europe, with full English text and voice overs. Thanks to an independent Amazon seller, I picked it up, and was not disappointed!

Graphically, you won't be blown away. It looks like a lot of the other "almost PS2-like" games out for the PSP. Its visuals are similar in style and look to Valkyrie Profile Lenneth (another decent action RPG).

The audio/music are both fine -- the voice overs are the usually over-corny-but-still-well-done English translations from a JRPG. The music is somewhat forgettable, but appropriate and nice.

Gameplay is classic Tales fare -- semi-strategic button-mashing. You'll find yourself fumbling in tougher battles to find the right balance of attacks, but after 1 or 2 tries, I usually was able to get through. Battles with critters is broken up by the occasional minigame, which vary from silly to fun.

The main storyline is also fairly generic, but long and offers just enough to keep you playing.
