If you can past the few bumps along the way, you have a pretty decent fighting game

User Rating: 7.3 | SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom XBOX
SNK Vs. Capcom: Chaos is a fighting game made by SNK. This was the answer to Capcom Vs. SNK 2 which was made by Capcom. When SNK decided to make this game, I don't know what happened.

This game uses the 2 button system (weak, strong) instead of Capcom's 3 button (weak, medium, strong). The gameplay of this game isn't as great and was nothing I expected it to be. The collision detection is terrible and it will really piss you off if you get hit by a small jab when 3 feet away from the opponent. If you played any of the KOF games, you will probably have no problem getting the feel of the way the game plays out. There are alot of interesting characters like Zero from Megaman or Violent Ken. There's 36 playable characters from Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, King of Fighters, and Street Fighter. There are multiple modes of play like your usual Arcade, Practice, Versus, and Survival Modes.

The graphics of this game are actually pretty good. All the characters looks great, SNK did a good job remodeling each fighter. There is a Gallery mode, where you unlock artwork of fighters through Survival mode. They actually catch your eye for like 10 seconds, after that it's just a piece of crap. There is also a Color Edit mode where you edit the colors of your characters costumes.

The sound of the game is decent. Before you start a fight, thier is some dialogue where the 2 fighters just talk some smack. The music for each level is just plain. Some levels have nice music, but nothing that would really pump you up. Aside from the music of the game, the sound of each fighter is horrible. You got Ken an Ryu saying "Hadoken" in some kind of american accent, which is pretty damn pissy to your ears.

The major selling point of SVC Chaos was the ability to play this game online via Xbox Live. The online mode has your typical Quick Match, Optimatch, etc. But there are some few errors to this mode. First of all, when you play a game, after the match is over, both players are returned to the main screen. There is no rematch button. There is a way to get past this. All you do is create a lobby and invite the player. Your friends list a little buggy at times, and the stats system is not put the right way. If you find a player thats the same level as you, you can play matches and get pretty hooked into the game.

Overall, this is a game that very few people might like. If your a fan of SNK's previous fighting games this game might be for you. Otherwise it can be hard to like the game, but the online mode will keep you satisfied for while.
