Fun mini games? check. Nostalgia value? check. No bugs? err...

User Rating: 7.5 | Survivor: Ultimate Edition PC
I have played the first game a couple times few and hated every minute of it. The random babble that came from the computer players, the complete ease to win and the excrusiatingly boring mini games made it a suck more than Clay Aiken doing a Celiene Dion cover(shudder). This game fixes most of what was wrong gameplay wise, but some of the more major issues still lay.

First, a summary of the game. The first Survivor game consisted of a grueling survival period, a reward challenge, more survival, an immunity challenge, and then tribal council. I won't go into what was wrong with the first game because, quite frankly, I don't have the time. What I will say is that the new game is much more of an imporvement. Each round consists of two challenges, an allience making period, and then tribal council. The allience period consists of you sending invitations to the computer players to gang up on other players. Sometimes they will join, sometimes they won't. It depends on how much they like you/the player you want to vote off.

The minigames are actually fun. The first Survivor game had mingames that never really ended, and Ultimate Edition is a huge improvment. The minigames are all very diverse and the game has a practice mode in case you just want to play minigames. Some of them are very clever, like overlaying coloured shapes to match a bunch of coloured shapes. It's kind of hard to describe, but trust me, they are fun.

The actuall graphics of the game are very nice... Kind of... You see, there isn't much to look at. The only time you see your player is at tribal council(where you vote off people) and while some of the characters look real enough, some of them look hilarious. Especially Jeff Probst and the oddly mapped peach fuzz above his lip.

This game is not flawless however. I bought this game about 2 years ago and just recently got it working. Not sure what I did, it was the same computer and same hardware, but for some reason it just desided to work. And if you don't have the patch, the game will crash when you play certain minigames. Another problem is that it is hard to get people to like you. Being in alliences is supposed to make others like you, but I don't really see that happening. The not having people like you is a pain because it become difficult to win.

All in all, if you're a survivor fan, you will appreciate the nostalgia value but beware that your heart may be broken because just installing it is a pain.

Huge improvement on the last one, and I really want to see a third game that will be perfect.

BTW, I scored the difficulty on Just Right because the minigames are easy enough but actually getting people to vote for you in the end is hard.
