A game that succeeds where Super Robot Taisen A missed out on.
The store owner whom I purchased SRW A from told me about the serial numbers located within the cartridge so I learnt where not to buy. But it took me a very long time to be able to buy this game anywhere. In fact I bought this about more than a few years ago on eBay. And a genuine article too.
Start off, you get to choose your character's gender. That's it basically for original. They both look alike... Not exactly what I had in mind considering that having both Lamia Loveless and Axle ( I think he's called that) from the first GBA game into the SRW OG 2 and the PS2 version... It's not exactly the most innovative way to start off a pseudo sequel.
But they definitely had a good selection of mechas to use too. Like all SRW games the gameplay is the same and it's the best way to use this phrase: same beef, different gravy.
While it's always the story that's different, the way SRW carries itself out through scenarios after scenarios of battles and strategy really plays out quite nicely.
The difficulty curve is much the same, you need to upgrade, purposely game over for money and levels and use you pilot's skills wisely. Terrain helps a lot but you need serious luck to win.
The animation is an improvement and the music is just as great considering the different robots you have at your disposal. At least you can skip the battle animations. Which is the improvement.
Other than that, the original robots are quite interesting to choose. So it's a bad game to have. It certainly is worth trying to find it all over the net for.
