What can you say about Super Metroid? Well let's just say it's probably in the Top 3 or 5 best games for Super Nintendo. Why? Because it's such a great idea built on top of with great controls, a great storyline, a massive planet to explore, a good difficulty, and just overall a fun game.

In this game you control Samus Aran a bounty hunter who captured the Metroid and gave it to scientists to reasearch and Ridley attacks them and steals the Metroid. This is where you come in with Samus and must retrieve the Metroid. BTW this game is the Sequel to Metroid II: Return of Samus, which is the sequel to Metroid.

To start off this game has great graphics right away you'll notice. Also, the controls are easy and very well thought out and makes the game just overally easy to pick up. During the course of the game you'll encounter various enemies and bosses and along with that you will gain new items to help you advance further. Overall the bosses are interesting and difficult enough, and the items you receive are awesome as well (the Screwattack being mine and many others' favorite).

The Planet you're on is Zebes and let me tell you it's huge. Broken into I believe 5 sections maybe 6 (don't quote me on this). But besides that it is again very big and every section is innovative and designed well.

There's not many flaws in this game and the few ones in it don't take anything away from the game itself. First off, I lost my saved files numerous times, now I'm sure this is just due to the old system and hardware but it's still annoying. Second the game itself was released in 1994 which is when the PSX was talked about at E3 and everyone was excited about that and waited for it ignoring this game. Lastly, some parts (mostly secrets) in the game are just kind of hard and mind numbing to figure out and solve, however it's rewarding when you do solve it. Again, these flaws don't affect the greatness of this game.

Overall the game is great and very fun to play. It has great replay value and the upgrades from the items you get make you want to continue further with their unique additions to you're collection/arsenal. Super Metroid in one word is perfect and I highly recommend it for anyone who is into a 2D shooter or action game. A must buy for your Super Nintendo.
