It's a story about a super piece of meat, who the evil Dr Foetus can never seem to beat.

User Rating: 9.5 | Super Meat Boy PC
Super Meat Boy is a platform game which revolves around a little piece of meat named Meat Boy and his perilous journey to save his girl friend Bandage Girl from the evil clutches of Dr Foetus who hates everyone, but most of all he hates our hero Meat Boy.

The story has Meat Boy run a series of dangerous gauntlets in the pursuit of Dr Foetus to save Bandage Girl. There are 5 Worlds divided in to 20 short but challenging levels each, which meat boy must complete. There are also two other worlds which will be unlocked upon completion.

It is a typical side scrolling platform game that gives you unlimited lives to beat the levels which are full of all kinds of hazards from meat saws to salt pits. Once you have passed a stage you will be shown a replay that will show every single attempt to pass the stage at once. This looks better as you get to the larger more difficult stages as you will have many attempts to try and pass a stage, almost to the point of frustration.

The sound track is very good for a video game, offering rock beats mixed with some drum and bass to help keep you amped while you tackle the stages and the cut scenes between levels use 8 bit style sound which makes you feel like your playing a classic.

Graphics are simple with the levels containing no curved edges so everything appears blocky. This was likely a tribute to the 8-16 bit games it's style of game play is based on. Just cause it does not contain ground breaking graphics, in no way does this means it's not fun.

The controls are great, very responsive and once mastered you can make Meat Boy do some crazy things even if it is only running and jumping.

This game is a must for platform lovers as it combines the difficulty of platform classics like Ghost and Goblins with the level designs of the original Megaman in the run a jump style of Sonic the hedgehog minus the bad guys (except in later stages). Or with a modern comparison... well I don't have any so your just going to have to buy it and compare it your self.
