A Revolutionary Mario Game

User Rating: 9 | Super Mario World SNES

Super Mario World stands in stark distinction with its predecessor both stylistically and in terms of gameplay elements. Super Mario World had an impossible task of following Super Mario Bros 3 which is one of the greatest games in existence, but it does so well by adding new powerups, new enemies, ghost houses, creative boss battles, secret exits in levels, the ability to save, and of course Yoshi. The biggest improvement in this game in my opinion was the boss battles were far more creative than in the previous installation and they each felt unique. Unfortunately, that trend with the Koopalings being very distinct in their final levels has not stuck with the franchise, but Super Mario World treats them the best they have been treated so far.
