This game for the NES returns to a more normal Mario format where you are collecting coins again and jumping on enemies to kill them. Fire power is back, along with some new suits such as the frog suit for underwater agility, and the innovative raccoon and Kabuki suits. No Yoshi yet though, that's the next game for the SNES. However, the many different suits you can get is what makes this game great!! Not only that, it's a much bigger game with more levels than the previous 2 games, with better graphics and smoother game play.
Down side: I have to admit I'm not a big fan of the map which you use to traverse between levels. Also the bosses on Mario 2 are cooler in my opinion. M3's bosses are a little on the repetitive side. (I also dislike the card houses.)
Overall score: a big 9. Recommended course of action: Own it. This game, along with Mario 2 are my favorites in the series. It's pretty difficult actually if you don't use the flute to warp. Get it on S.M. All Stars if you can becuase you get Mario 1 and Mario 2 with it! Great value.
