Game Review-Super Nintendo-Super Mario All Stars + World

For my third review, I was planning on doing the original Super Mario. Well, I realized I could save a heckuva lot of typing just by doing a review of the compilation game “Super Mario All Stars + World”. i could probably save more typing just by not using punctuation or capitalization but what would that solve maybe i could use those cool number/letter combos that so many people use in instant messaging programs lol omg wtf gr8 rotflmao!!!!!

Graphics
If I had to mix all of the Super Mario game graphics with the fact that the graphics are on the Super Nintendo, it gets an average. In case you are wondering right now, the games in this compilation game are as follows:
Super Mario Brothers
Super Mario Brothers: The Lost Levels
Super Mario Brothers 2
Super Mario Brothers 3
Super Mario World

So yeah…graphics get a seven.

Sound
Sound is good, you don’t get annoyed, even in the original Super Mario Brothers. That’s pretty much it.

Gameplay
Come on! It’s Mario! I’ll break it down by the game.

Super Mario Brothers:
Jump. Break a block. Jump again. Smash a Goomba. Jump. Oh, look, it’s Bowser. Jump over Bowser. Level over. Suprisingly fun and addictive.

Super Mario Brothers-The Lost Levels:
Funny story here. You see, Super Mario Bros. Lost Levels was released in Japan as Super Mario Brothers 2. The Lost Levels, however, is incredibly hard. So…it wasn’t released in America. America’s Super Mario 2 was pretty much a direct copy of a Famicom game because Nintendo thought that America would not like the difficulty of the game. They were probably right. The only real difference between The Lost Levels and the original game is the fact that now you can use Luigi, who can jump higher than Mario! Yes!

Super Mario Brothers 2:
Clearly the worst of the 5 games offered. This was the game that was a copy of a Famicon game. The only switch were the names of the characters. You can now use Mario, Luigi, Toad, or Peach. Mario is the balanced one, Luigi can (take a wild guess) jump really high, Toad picks up items very quick, and Peach can float for a short amount of time. You can now switch back screens and you can not stomp on enemies. You can, however, stand on them, pick them up, and throw them. That’s kinda cool…

Super Mario Brothers 3:
This one is my personal favorite. There is now a world map that you direct your character (Mario or Luigi) through. There are once again 8 worlds in all, and now there are minigames. The two player game is really cool, because you can keep track and have a little bit of a competition between whoever you’re playing with, because whoever completes a level gets their letter (M or L) on that level. Cool stuff. Not only that, but this game, along with the original game and The Lost Levels has a replayable option that I will explain more later. This one makes the whole series, in my opinion. Add all the features and mix them with a feather, a frog, a hammer and a bunch of other cool Mario upgrades, and this game rocks.

Super Mario World:
Another great Mario game. This one doesn’t beat Super Mario 3, (again, that’s just my opinion), but it’s definitely the second best. It has the most options and the most secret options. There are 3 or 4 different Yoshis available to ride, and in almost all of the levels there is a key that can unlock a secret level that can in turn unlock a Star Road level. The graphics are the coolest out of all the games, however, I think the sound is more annoying than some of the others. The minigames aren’t as plentiful as in Super Mario 3, and they get very repetitive very quick. A solid game, though, and you also get a cool spin jump. And there’s a cape.

Controls
The controls are very good. The only reason it doesn’t get a 10 is because the controls in Super Mario World are really confusing at times.

Frustration Rate:
The only time I got frustrated was in The Lost Levels, and like I said, that’s because it’s so much more difficult than all of the other games. Which is why it wasn’t released in America until the compilation pack came out.

Durability
Who can get tired of Super Mario? Nobody! Three of the games in the pack have a harder difficulty to replay once the game is beaten. Not only that, but in Super Mario World, you get a cool spin jump.
