User Rating: 8.9 | Summoner PS2
Summoner is a game full of surprises. It could be disappoint at some point of the game and appealing unexpectedly down the road. The best part of the game is the story, which has many twists. The main character, Joseph, is betrayed, imprisoned, rescued, and bestowed with power that would save world from evil. Joseph has several accompaniers, who help him on his quests and save his life through the game.
In the game, player is drawn into world two continents, Medeva and Orenia. The first one is similar to medieval Europe, while the second relate to China. The story can be divided into three lengthy parts. The first part and last parts occurs in Medeva and between are many campaigns, fights, and mysteries to solve.
The game has steady pace and huge environment to explore. There are randomly many areas, which will allow Joseph and his party to gain experiences. The story has many side quests, which will help to understand complex story of the Summoner.
The graphics are little obsolete; however, there are nice details such as snowflakes, and ladybugs in the Ikameos swamp. Every character has interesting personal development, and unique sets of skills and powerful magical spells. The fights are well done, and boss fights could be challenging and overwhelming. Controls are easy to use, and there is no limit on the inventory, which can be accessed at any point of the fight. The music and sound is appealing and corresponds to the environment. The animations are nice.
The game is stable and promises to give player several tens of hours of interesting play.
