A bit repetitive, but it's a game that won't let you down!

Style Savvy is a game in which you are given a chance to run your own boutique. It's pretty straight forward - you start off by sending in your application for a job at PRIMAVERA, a famous boutique. You get accepted, and Grace, the owner of the boutique, teaches you how to serve customers. After a few twists and turns in the plot, you finally get to manage your own boutique!

Alright, enough with the story.

GAMEPLAY

Once in your SHOP, there are a list of people in your boutique, waiting to be helped. Select a customer and they tell you their story, and what kind of clothes they want. Choose either an article of clothing or an outfit that they like, and the customer leaves your shop. This process can get a bit hard if you don't have the right clothes in stock, but telling what a customer wants is easy because there are hints given away from what the customer says and wears. After a while, it gets a bit repetitive. You serve customer after customer, but in the end, you're rewarded by a higher shop rank! The more customers you serve, the higher your shop rank is. (1 - 5 stars) There are also other places besides your shop, such as the CONTEST HALL where you can participate in contests to earn special prizes! You're given clothes that match a certain theme and it's up to you to put together an outfit that will win you the trophy! Also, there is the EXHIBITION HALL (or BUYERS CENTER, depending on which version) where you can purchase clothes from different unique brands to restock your stockroom. A downside I can't get over is that this game lacks bags, bracelets, more hairstyles, etc. This game is lacking the things that really bring an outfit together!

CONTROLS

Throughout the whole game you must turn your DS to its side, so you can use the touchscreen with one hand. You use the stylus to do mostly everything in the game, but while viewing outfits you can use the buttons on your DS to control some movement. I don't mind using the stylus that much, so the controls are fine with me.

GRAPHICS/MUSIC/ARTWORK

The graphics are actually pretty nice. Each individual piece of clothing has its own sprite, so you can easily see what the clothes look like when you're in your CLOSET. Everything is smooth, and very nice to look at. Your actual character is a bit of an anime style, with big eyes, etc. (You are able to choose your own face/skin tone at the beginning of the game.) As for the music, it can get annoying at times, but the fact that you can change the background music makes it all good.

MULTIPLAYER/DLC

I really enjoyed the fact that this game has multiplayer! In DS Wireless, you can visit a boutique close by. The customer gets to buy clothes like at the Exhibition Hall, while the owner of the boutique can send out different comments such as "Nice!" or "That's in season!" Wi-Fi is a whole different story. You can open your own branch in the COMMUNITY EMPORIUM, but this time customers cannot buy individual articles of clothing. Instead, you must create mannequins with outfits you designed. Each boutique is assigned a unique address. Even if you don't have a certain boutique's address, you are still allowed to browse the different boutiques in the Community Emporium. As for DLC, or Downloadable Content, you are able to download new clothing over Wi-Fi. So far I'm not sure whether any DLC was released in the US or Europe.

REPLAY VALUE

Is this game really worth playing again? Of course! After you win the final contest, you're able to create an alternate face for your character in the BONUS category. Everything in your game stays the same, (your boutique, stock, make-up... everything!) the only thing different is your character's face! Also, since there are thousands of clothes to collect in the game, you'll always be coming back to find that perfect outfit!

OVERALL

Overall, I give this game an 8.0!

Style Savvy lost the 2.0 because of it's repetitiveness, and because it's only aimed at girls. (Although I understand a fashion game would be more appealing to females, rather than males.) Also, there were some clothing categories I found useless, and some clothing categories I wish were in the game. Other than that, this game is still my favourite game yet! If there will ever be a sequel, I hope it will be just as good.
