I was excited to hear about a stargate game, finally! Unfortunately, that excitement ended 30 seconds into gameplay.

So along comes a stargate FPS, finally! I was so excited because I am a big Stargate fan. I bought the game from Direct2Drive. Downloaded it, installed it and then started it up. There were no problems with the installation, I was able to set everything on high and when I initially entered the game the map selection and class selection was easy to figure out. So what caused me to rate this game so low?

The game play mechanics reminded me of those free FPS games you can play online. In fact, the mechanics were a lot more simplistic to the point of disappointment. Just point and shoot. I didn't even see that there is a scope option for the sniper. Maybe I missed that one, but everything was over the right shoulder view.

The animations were very rigid and it just seemed like it was a very cheap and amateur attempt at animation in general.

The scenes looked ok, but there are only 3 maps?! What gives? In fact, every single time I went into a game it was the exact same maps over and over again! So it appears that there is only one map per planet, and that map is very small!

The number of weapons and abilities was on par, I suppose, with the TV show, but that makes for a very boring game. There are only a couple of weapons, one per class, and a couple of abilities for one of the classes.

In conclusion, the game is ok for a small, 5 minute experience, but it really doesn't last much longer than that. It's very boring, and gets old real fast.
