Despite what seems to be a crippling lack of content, Racer Revenge pulls through thanks to some addicting racing.

User Rating: 8 | Star Wars: Racer Revenge PS2
Star wars: Racer Revenge is the sequel to Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer. Its a great game with some extremely addicting racing, an incredible sense of speed, and a great sense of brutality between all the racers. The game nearly blows it with a horrific lack of content, but ultimately, the game makes good with what its got.

The game's premise is pretty simple, your racing in another podracing tournament sponsored by Jabba. The catch- after his humiliation in Episode 1 Racer- Sebulba returns to get revenge for his loss. That's all there is for story, but its all we need. Racer Revenge comes with 3 modes- a single-player tournament which has you go through all the tracks for unlockables, single races chosen from the tracks you've beat in the tournament, and multiplayer races on those same tracks.

The actual racing of Racer Revenge can be described quite simply: amazing and addicting. One of the primary reasons is just how well the game captures podracing. It is hectic- it is brutal- its mind-bogglingly fast. The race tracks are all well-designed, the pods themselves handle with an amazing sense of realism, its all so good, you won't want to part with it for quite a while.

That's unfortunately the game's main problem- its way too short. After unlocking everything there is to unlock in the tournament mode, all you've got are single races and the multiplayer mode. These unfortunately only have one difference- one mode has only AI, the other has a human player racing against you as well as the AI (The AI by the way is passable). That's all there is, and you'll sooner or later tire of it, despite the great gameplay that there is to be enjoyed. This could of been easily remedied with just a few additional modes...

Graphically, Racer Revenge has some great graphics with well-detailed pods and environments. Even the character models at the select screen are amazingly detailed ironically, despite the fact thats the only time you ever see them. Sound wise, the game has the classic Star Wars score and the rest of the sound fits in just fine.

As I said- Racer Revenge nearly blows it with its horrendous lack of content, but if your a fan of racing games, the hectic racing of Racer Revenge makes it one of the best rentals you can find. But don't buy it unless you know what your getting...

Pros: Amazing podracing. Well-designed tracks. Great graphics.

Cons: Crippling lack of content.

Recommendable for: Those who like racing games are in for a treat, but make sure you rent it first.
