When this game came out it was great. Big battles, large 64 player servers, decently detailed maps. Battles generally last around 30 minutes and with ATATs ATSTs and flying, it felt like you were on a real battlefield.
Weapons felt real enough and Walker Assault(Basically you're escorting an ATAT from one side of the map to the other as the rebels try to stop you/destroy it.) was a huge improvement over the early 2000s games. Kinda missed Heroes VS Villains which does not appear in this game.
I really really enjoyed the fact this game had power ups/spawns throughout the map which were pure chance/luck compared with the new Battlefront 2(Which sucks don't buy it.) where you have to earn everything you use meaning new players usually get their asses handed to them by players that sit online all day.
Heroes/Villains were a huge battle/balance changers on the battlefield where they could make all the difference, they were a ton of fun to play as.(The new battlefront 2 they are pussies.. 2-3 hits from an average player kills them and their light sabers do little to no damage, but this is not a SWBF2 review.)
Yes the game was great.. Until EA abandoned us in August 2017 when the last update came out. For PC, cheaters are now everywhere. Simply install a mod off any number of sites and get yourself aimbots, one hit kills, one hit vehicle kills.(meaning a blaster can destroy an ATAT in one shot ending the multiplayer match.) Being one of the top 5% of players on PC multiplayer it really pissed me off to work my ass off to be #1 each match only to have some kids aimbotting/one shotting everyone. Because EA abandoned us to cheaters the multiplayer is now a ghost town. Most all normal players have left and you're stuck playing with 3 types of people. new Players, cheaters and a bunch of third worlders who finally could afford the game now that its $10 bargain bin price in their country.
Real sad because EA had a winner here and they blew it. But its still better even with the cheaters than the complete trash SWBF2 is.. If you're on PC DO NOT buy this game, it's no longer playable.
