Looking for a long rpg that plays in real time and will take you over lvl 40? well, here it is,

User Rating: 8.5 | Star Ocean: Till the End of Time PS2
Star ocean is a interesting real time rpg that has some pretty good idea's at times with a few minor flaws and serperates from games from rpgs like final fantasy, with that said, there really isnt any more or less to go on,

Storyline 7/10 decent

the plot isnt to new or breathtaking really, i cant really say if its good or bad but its sort of diffrent with its certain technolgy aspect that not alot of rpgs are based on ps2, your in this futuristic planet and play as a man name Fayt, a swords man (or at least will eventually be) after some things happen you get stranded on a less develped planet and fayt trys to find a way back and thats how it basicly all starts out, it will of course not be a plot jumping planet to planet just to find your way home meaning the plot does fairly go into a diffrent direction i just cant really spoil to much of it, but along the way youll meet alot of characters such as Sohpia, your sort of realtive, Cliff, a tuff guy boxer with brass like nuckles, (not a typical boxer that youd see in the ring) Nel, a sort of smart, cool, dagger mage, and so on, there are about over 10 characters for you to choose from and each of them has there own decent personilty and set of skills, as bad as the characters that i might have shortly introduce are to people who hadvent played, they fit in actually quite very well, the real only problem of the storyline is that theres way to much cut sences IMO,

Gameplay 8/10 actually fun

the gameplay of the game is in realtime and is excuted very smoothly with a few minor problems here and there but still becomes a good system, you control a character and bring 2 along with you, skills are set up as up to 4 you can bring along to use on short or long range depending your distance to your target, you also swing untill the rate bar below hits zero or no enough to attack again, and with some magic that basicly explains the battle system, the leveling up system also allows you to drop in points from leveling into 4 catagorys like ATK,DEF,MP,HP kind of controling the path of that character, which all of this are basicly good ideas and are done ratherly well, however minor problems are that magic is...sort of useless in this game compared to a weapon since you cant really increase int in to many ways its alot better to just phsicaly beat down your oppnent with your weapon and the enchantments thrown on it during forging as well as magic acquiring isnt done by levels (most of the time) and usually must come from a support skill or book, im not a great fan of magic but it just seems prety much a shame, the other problem is your AI, its not terrible but the skill you set them up with and what you have in mind what you want them to do wont click half the time kind of forcing you to play around a bit making certain skills not to usefull to you, they also seem to lack the knowlege of healing as well, often by the time they do think of it its a bit late usually but i suppose its overlookable since youll be perfering to use heal all items, with only these problems really though the gameplay runs very smoothly and can end in seconds,

Graphics 8/10 also decent

mostley in 3d models, for a futuristic kind of game it does it pretty well, magic and attacks are also done nicely and just about all the sencery is made sort of beutifully, but im no expert in judging graphics so anyway it just seems great,

Music 8/10 slightly dissipointing

to me i expected more epic music from this game then just a few i liked, but the rest of it is pretty great, the music has usually techno theme's which some are catchy but at times can really get on your nerves hearing it over again and again, and boss music really sounds medicore to me, im sure it could just be me but i guess others would like it,

Replay Value 9/10 suprising

there are trophys to collect, diffrent diffcultys to play, minigames to play, cards to collect, aftergame storyline to go through, diffrent characters to use, and etc, there are actually alot of reasons why to play again maybe except the negetive that its way to long and you dont want to go through all of it again,

Final word... its a decent rpg to keep your time busy if you have nothing to do and want to spend cheaply, oh, and the game is 2 disks long if you dont belive the length,
