Besides a couple little gimmicks your pretty much doing the exact same thing for 20 hours; not that that is a bad thing.

User Rating: 7 | Spyro the Dragon PS
In the magical lands of dragons is where your adventure to rescue your dragon friends begins. You slowly move across many distinct worlds, rescuing dragons and finding treasure. And this is how nearly 99% of the game plays out. Not that that is a bad thing. Spyro the Dragon is an excellent adventure game and follows the very simple formula almost perfectly. Starting in the Artisans World the evil Gnasty Gnorc (I'm not positive on the spelling) has began his epic campaign to conquer the world. He freezes all the dragons save Spyro and it's up to him to stop him. You'll move across five worlds; move through approximately five levels in each world collecting jewels, eggs and fellow frozen dragons. The levels in each game are insanely well-drawn out with the level design really standing out. The puzzles of jumping, charging not only require some thinking but a nice amount of skill. Skilled players should be able to with ease be able to handle some of the more difficult situations making them able to get that nice 100%. The game is easy though and does not really require too much skill to finish it fully. The game's gameplay does not really change at all alot throughout. Besides a couple little gimmicks your pretty much doing the exact same thing for 20 hours; not that that is a bad thing. The game is incredibly fun from beginning to end although trying to get that 100% can be a little frustrating at times; for the most part just finishing the game is rather easy. The graphics are fairly decent but there are some glitches and some backgrounds and enemy character models look like a really poorly done job. The sound is a different story though. The games music is pretty mediocre to begin with and it can get fairly repetitive. You could get about 25 hours on your first play-through but it is still fun to go through and find every little jewel. Quick players may be able to beat it in 15 hours but for the most part people should get around 25. It does not really have a lot of replay value though because there are really no reasons to go back to it rather than to beat a couple of racing records. Overall Spyro the Dragon is a very good game that just drops the ball in a couple of areas. The gameplay just suffers a little bit; same as the graphics and with it's fairly mediocre sound and the limited replay value it just cuts it shy from greatness.
