Spyro's first outing on the GBA was actually good. With a good balance of challenge it's a perfect fit for the GBA.

It probably didn't seem possible for a portable Spyro game back then, but Digital Eclipse beat all odds and released one of the best Spyro games of all time (hey, it's better than most of the Purple dragon's outings). Season of Ice plays incredibly similar to the Spyro's PS1 glory games: B is flame, R is horndash, A is jump, and two A taps is glide. After you got the controls down, SOI is surprisingly fun. Like in the first Spyro, you have to use your fire breath to free your friends trapped in crystal- but this time around it's not dragons trapped in crystal, but fairies. To save them all, you have to travel to different worlds (some Spyro fans should recognize), fight baddies, complete certain tasks, and scale heights to find and rescue them all. And speaking of scaling heights, thats where the problem comes in. It's hard to distinguise on how high a ledge is, this leads to countless deaths at times, and it can be annoying at times. Horndashing can also be a problem, because the controls can get messed since the sceen doesn't follow your movements. Other than these flaws, Spyro Season of Ice is a great game on the go and should last you a couple of weeks. You owe it to your self to try this game out.
