It's not all that bad once you've gotten the hang of the controls.
The A.I is awful, but that should get better as the characters get smarter, surely?
But those things aside, it's not that far from the original.
The new dodge ability is very useful and you can rack up some large scores once you understand how it works. At the time of writing this I'm only in the first league and still in my first week of playing it, so the jury is still out. I am over 30 years old and also have fond memories of the original on the amiga, this game does not play as well as that one did, for sure.
But maybe, just maybe, if the Beloved Bitmap Brothers release a speedball 3 game... they might review the menu, link the cup, league and knockout competitions to make a season game option, fix the player upgrade screen so that you can easily see the players stats simply by hovering over them (this made me mad!), this would make it outstanding.
