take a classic of thirty odd years ago inject it with speed and your in bussiness.
spaceinvaders extreme delivers on every front, it appeals to me because i really enjoyed the retro games of yesteryear, what taito did was take the basic core of the old school game and injected it with speed, the end result is a game which still holds enough of the original game to please the older gamer, but adds some fun new ideas with a great sound track, making this game my favorite pick-up put down game in my collection.
you still remain the ship at the bottom of the screen with the enemy moving left to right acrross the screen moving lower down as they go, whats new is the types of enemy spaceships which vary in size and shape as well as the attack power, but to compensate for this you also have a varied array of weapons you can pick up, add to the the noval idea of having aims to achieve during each level, from stringing together hits without misses to taking out a spacific enemy without shooting one of the other types, every stage building up its ending with having a boss to defeat.
all and all this is a fun game which has replkay value just as games of yesteryear did with the main compitition coming from wishing to better your previous highscore, this is a perfect pick up and play game, or a great game if your own the move.
i give this hyped up classic a solid 8.5/10 and hope that this game brings you as much fun as it did me.
