Great game once you learn how to play. Give this one a chance and you won't regret it. This is not just some retro shooter rehash, it is a completely new game. Anyone playing it like a shooter will not have fun and score low. Play the tutorial AND look at the help in the options menu (this helped me more than the tutorial). If score-based games don't interest you, don't bother. The crazy visuals are part of the game, having an option to turn them down would make it a totally different game. You need to use your sense of sight and hearing to do well at this game. In fact, I wish the audio levels were set in stone as well. People should not be allowed to turn the music all the way down in my opinion.
At any rate, try the demo, run through the tutorial, and look at in-game help to get a decent idea on what to do.
