The Immaculate Birth of a Franchise

User Rating: 9 | SoulCalibur DC
Looking back, about 12 years ago, this game hit the console market, and even today the visuals look pretty impressive and the gameplay it's just plain fun. It felt a little simplistic in the beginning, but it has a very robust fighting mechanism, but the difficulty to start it's not really there. I popped this game in and I was able to beat it, all the way to the last boss without using any continues and the time fighting spent was about 3min. So yes, you can beat the game in a manner of a few tries.

The magic about Soul Caliber is the addictive battle goodness that it's magically there. Everything moves smoothly and it's great to see that the developers put a lot of work on making the game highly repayable, with multiple modes, extras and so on. It's was a great value back in the day and it still an awesome value today if you can get your hands on it.

Technically SC brought a whole new dimension to console gaming, the light work is impressive even till this day and it just makes me appreciate the system even more and wish to someday be able to put my hands on another SEGA console, it doesn't hurt to hope. Soul Caliber was one of the titles that help to establish the Dreamcast and show it's power and it's pretty much a reason for nostalgia on the good gaming years.
