While Not Exceptionally Long Or Too Challenging, It's Still A Very Good Sonic Game.

Sometimes, trying to nail down the PRECISE amount of how hard and/or how long a game should be, is not always easy as some people might think it is. By normal Game Gear standards, this game probably WOULD be a game of fairly standard length and be fairly challenging as well. But thanks to the game being included as a part of "Sonic Origins Plus" on the Nintendo Switch, the game now feels easier than ever to beat; thanks to the helpful inclusion of the helpful "Save" & "Load" features, which lets you save at any point in the game, and lets you load that point as many times as you need. Graphically, this game is on par with the second "Sonic The Hedgehog" Game Gear game, and has more in common with the Genesis games of the "Sonic The Hedgehog" video game series. First, Chaos Emeralds are no longer found just in hard to find spots in normal stages; only by using Sonic, and by getting 100 rings in a stage, will you have a chance to access a Special Stage, in order to hunt for the Chaos Emerald hiding within the Special Stage. While there are only 5 Chaos Emeralds to collect from the Special Stages this time, it's actually justified as Dr. Robotnik already HAS one Chaos Emerald, and he won't give it up unless you are able to collect the other 5 and beat him on the last stage with Sonic! Although the addition of the "Save" & "Load" feature is a blessing for players who have never played the game before, it sadly also makes the ability to beat this game far easier than it has ever been before. That being said, it still actually takes quite a bit of effort to beat the bosses in this game, as some of them have some tricky strategies to attack you and the way they need to be beaten. Thankfully, this game never feels too overwhelming or too demanding. By Game Gear standards, the graphics are (Turbographix-16 level) good, the music and sounds are great, the controls are great, and only the difficulty (or lack thereof) feels lacking; but the parts of this game that are still great makes the game one package that should still be played by "Sonic The Hedgehog" fans, and players who are looking for a fun, platform game experience! Enough said, true believers!
