A pretty decent racing game.
It's a racing game, and instead of using cars (except for Amy and Robotnik.) the racers use their legs....well, some of them do. There is 5 courses: Resort Island, Radical City, Regal Ruin, Reactive Factory, and the last course you must unlock, Radiant Emerald. Beating all of them in 1st place is a synch. There are also hidden Characters that you must unlock. To unlock most of them, you need to collect the 5 tokens that are hidden in 4 of the 5 levels, then place in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Then you must beat them in a race. The other hidden characters, Robotnik and Super Sonic, must be unlocked differently. To unlock Robotnik, you must beating Radiant Emerald in 1st place. To unlock Super Sonic, you must collect all of the Chaos Emeralds in the game. To keep Chaos Emeralds after collecting them, you must place first in the course you're in. There's also a Time attack mode, Tag mode, Reverse course mode, find the Balloon mode, and Multiplayer mode.

The controls are simple, but most of the characters have bad traction.

Pretty good for the Saturn, but the characters look a little odd sometimes.

Very corny.
Sound effects 8/10
They're pretty basic. Feet tapping on the ground, water splashing, Sonic characters jumping ect ect.
Plot 4/10
This game is probably non-canon to the Sonic storyline, but the story is basically all the characters racing to win a grand prix.
Replay Value 7/10
Collecting all of the Characters and Chaos Emeralds is really the only replay value in the game. Getting good times in things like time attack or tag mode and other modes is fun too. Oh, and the multiplayer.

Rent or buy?
Just get Gems collections, I think that is the best way to get the game. Either that or the computer version.
