Surprisingly fun and a definite improvement from previous installments in the Sonic franchise.

While Sonic has become an iconic character throughout the gaming industry, his most recent games are less than desirable, implementing too many odd story-lines that somehow fall flat from any real expectations. "Sonic Colors" helped pave the way, however, to substantially better games, including "Generations". The major flaw that I believe the creators made was trying to rehash the series as many times as possible with cheap, poorly-executed outcomes.

Sonic Colors took a more simplistic approach and kept the story from drifting off too much. No awkward characters, just the originals, keeping it at an overall minimum. The bosses are unique, but none too overdramatic and are pretty easy, as far as I know. While the game isn't too long or difficult, I did find myself stuck at the Water World's "Crab" segment in particular, but I found ways to boost ahead quicker and dodge the attacks better.

As his name implies, Sonic runs at dazzling speeds and I did find myself running off edges from time to time. (If you tend to get headaches often, this game could easily make you dizzy.) Sonic's movements in particular often tend to be floaty. The enemies I found were a bit too easy, as all you're required to do is mash the 'A' button from above and hone in on a target, automatically smashing them to bits. If it weren't for the damage they inflict when you touch them, they might as well be crates.

Despite that, I did find the game to be quite thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile on many terms. The visuals and graphics are colorful, and the music is cheery and fast-paced. I also enjoyed the power-ups that Sonic could acquire throughout the game, and many proved to be very useful.
