With dozens of solitaire choices on the iPhone, Solitaire City stands above the rest with slick visuals and a refined UI
Solitaire City weighs in at a hefty $7.99 on the Apple App Store. There are dozens of other solitaire apps out there for much less coin, but none that come in a package as polished as this. The iPhone's touch screen is well utilized and you can play with the iPhone in any orientation; portrait or landscape, even upside down. The graphics are bright and sharp, and do not strain your eyes while playing. You play with simple taps and drag-and-drop, and the touch screen is quick and responsive. Unless you are a clod, you'll have no trouble playing, even with big hands. Even the sound effects are a nice touch.
There are plenty of customizable features as well. Backgrounds, card designs, special effects, game options and more are managed on the settings page. Games can be played with scoring or no scoring, and there are leaderboards to compare your score to everyone else who owns Solitaire City. Additionally, there is an excellent training mode which will offer to teach you how to play every variation of solitaire in the game.
As of this review, I truly feel that Solitaire City is the best solitaire app available on the iPhone. It may be pricier than some are willing to pay, but for that price, you get a highly refined game.
