The Arcade action is back...

User Rating: 6.5 | Smash T.V. X360
I remember this back from back in the day from the arcade, the SNES and the NES. So it's natural that gamers looking for a good nestalgia factor then this game is worth downloading. Smash TV takes place in the future where game shows have "evolved" into a violent net work of rooms filled with death traps and bots that want to take you out. Your goal, get tons of money, prizes, and off as many bots as possible. There is an almost Robocop feel to this game as you play through it. It's a good satire of violence. The graphics are pretty basic. They are at a birds eye view so it's easy to see the enemies, power ups, and prizes. The graphics aren't very detailed, but get the job done.

The controls are simple. One stick moves you while the other shoots in the direction that you point. Pretty simple right? Wrong! the swarm of enemies are dense and as you go through levels they become more difficult to defeat. The music and sound are nothing to write home about, but they fit the game type that this game embibes. It has a retro feel and is one of the premier shooters for it's day. Smash TV can get repetive and boring at times. It's something you may enjoy for a couple of rounds but not enough here to really want to beat the game unless if you are a hardcore fan. It's a fun pick up for a while but after that it's too much.
