Sly Cooper and his gang steal the show in this game!

User Rating: 10 | Sly 2: Band of Thieves PS2
Sly Cooper 2: Band of Thieves is an amazing game and what I think is to be the best game in the series. You start out as Sly Cooper, who is breaking into a museum to find and destroy the clockwerk parts. However on arrival, Sly discovers the parts have been stolen! Things go downhill from there...

Game play: Sly Cooper will once again have to climb, fight, and avoid traps. This time though, he can also steal coins from enemy's pockets, man turrets, and take surveillance photos. Levels have also taken a new step. Most of the levels have a very "open" feeling to them. Some levels take place in specific areas, but some are also in the open world. This means that some levels will have more than one way to beat them. Enemies are completely redesigned, but are down to the flashlight guards and basic guards. They will spot you if you come up in front of them or if you walk into an enemies' flashlight area. But they will not spot you if you sneak behind them.

There are also two systems for getting upgrades. There is the clue bottle system, but that has only been implemented to the general world areas and not the individual levels. Then there is the money system. You can steal goods from guards or other places (a balcony of a nightclub for example) to sell and gain money. Then you can buy upgrades over the computer. Now for the biggest improvement to the Sly franchise. You can now (and must) play as Bentley and Murray, Sly's two friends. Bentley has bombs and a sleep dart crossbow. Murray just punches the daylights out of his enemies. Game play in this game is a blast.

Graphics: Visuals have not improved much, though the worlds are slightly more realistic. The lighting in the game is really good. The areas have enough light so you can see, but these areas still look like they are dark. Think about a full moon and no clouds.

Story: Sly2 has a great storyline that is easy to follow. The story will keep you on your toes. Something I found interesting about the story is found with the bosses. Besides being a thief, Sly Cooper generally has a good moral code. For example, Sly Cooper wants to not only steal a clockwerk part from a drug dealer, he wants to shut down his entire operation. I thought this was a nice touch.

Now for the bad news: There are a couple of glitches here and there, but nothing that will totally ruin the game. Also, missions cannot be replayed.

Overall though, this game was put together almost perfectly!
This game is one of the best games I have ever played. Check it out, and you will probably like it too!
