The only good ski mountain strategy game out there.
You are given the choice to build upon some of the biggest names in the world of ski resorts. Once you choose your mountain, you are given complete control over what to build and how to shape your ski trails.
The Good:
-ability to shape land however you want
-option to go into ski cam, allowing you to ski down your own mountain!
-variety of buildings for base area
The Bad:
-guests may cut through trees to get to buildings
-no way to outline the boundaries of a trail (for instance, can't really cross different difficulty trails effectively without guests not following the intended path).
-too many sasquatches abducting guests and too many rams injuring them (and no you can't turn them off)
-no triple chairlift!
Lasting Appeal:
This game is very high in my realm of lasting appeal. After I completed my first mountain, I felt compelled to build upon each of the mountains. After that, I went back and made better versions with new land shaping techniques. There is even a make-your-own-mountain tool that gives you countless more hours of trying out different looks, to find the ski mountain that suits you best.
Bottom Line:
Ski Resort Tycoon 2 is a great game because it allows you to mold your mountain however you like. Whether you use one of their pre-made mountains or make your own, you have complete control on the trail design and building layout. Despite quite a few small annoyances and some things that lack realism, I find this game to be fun and addictive. It helps to be an avid fan of skiing, but really any fan of business strategy games should at least try this out.
