Despite the fact that the game hasn't really aged well, Ski Resort Tycoon 2 is definately the best ski resort simulator.
- Large maps allow hours upon hours of building up the same resort and countless different ways to expand
- A massive variety of buildings
- An interesting first person mode in which you can actually ski on your mountain
- Basically the only solid ski simulator out there, so if you are a big fan of skiing or tycoon games (like me) this really is the only choice you have.
Cons:
-Poor graphics (not a biggie, as it really shoudln't break the game, but don't expect any empire total war here)
- Odd ski lift skins (since when has a high speed quad been complketely enclosed in a warehouse?)
- Quirky and redundant ski run system
- Night skiing is little more than a big pain in the ass as all it does is make it too dark to build anything, and the sasquaches that abduct skiiers are annoying as hell and ruin the authenticity. The soundtrack sucks.
Bottom line: If you are a tycoon fan or love skiing, definately buy this game. You really can't go wrong. However, it does take some perserverance to get the game down right, and to get through one hell of a rough start that will see you strapped for cash at least until you build your first high speed quad. All in all, with a price tag of little more than $5, I'd buy the game even if you havn't ever skiied.
