A Great Horror that betters previous games.

User Rating: 8 | SIREN: New Translation PS3
Ok just ot kick off im doing something new on my reviews, so im putting a score out of 10 next to the section. Anyway, Lets get on with the review. Forbidden Siren is a great game series, but it isn't a seires everyone can appreciate. It had cluncky controls and had you having to return to do levels you've already done in the past ,which was a real pain. Plus if you scared easy this wasn't the game for you either, as you'd have soiled yourself after a couple of levels. This new game is apparently a remake ( i can't see how it is but there you are) and as with all Siren games you play as multipule characters and have to do certain tasks to pass the mission. You play from a wide range of characters from a young lad in his early 20's to a camera man and you even have to play as a little girl.
Most of the scare factor is in you having no weapons and forcing you to hide in the shadows. Luckily they still have the sight jacking system which lets you see into the eyes of your enemy's and allies.
While the majority of the game has you hiding you do get weapons from time to time. You can use pretty much anything, from iron pokers to shovels, and you can pick up a guns as well but they are rare and the only selection is revolver, rifle or double barrel shotgun.
Most of the enemys are the same but there are a few disturbing treats as you go threw th game as well.

Graphics: 7.5
There great. Not the best on the PS3 but they do the job fine. Great lighting and weather effects it can be a little dark at times though.

Sound: 7.0
Miles better than the voice acting in previous games. But they still aren't the greatest. The overall music and sound FX are great though.

Gameplay: 7.5
Just the same as the last games but the great thing is they got rid of the retreading bits. Which is why i think this game appeals to me so much. Had it still been there i don't think i would have completed it. Overall goals are very simple and can be abit unchallenging compared to other horror games out there, but it doesn't stop it from being fun. And the controls are dated as well.

**** Box: N/A
The controls feel dated./ When your spotted the screen cuts in half showing what the enemy is seeing (i.e you) and restricts you vision making it hard for you to get away./ The whole episodes thing makes the cutscenes feel like a cheesy american day time soap.

Value Of The Game At Full Price: 9.0
At £20 brand new this is a great bargain, with 12 meaty levels to complete you end up getting the same amount of time out of this as you would with any other game on the market.

Overall: 8.0
A great addition to the horror genre. While it doesn't do out to break it, it just gives you what you want, which is to get scared **** And it does this every well indeed. You can buy it cheap these days so it really is worth looking at.
