Right on Target

This game is one of my favorate games for the Wii system but it's also one of my favorate Run in Gun games and is pratically perfect in the 3-D even 2-D dynamic of that sub genere. It's a sequel to it's predicessor (which was only released in Japan though you can get it on Wii Ware) and it supasses it with flying colors because not just because of the fact it was made on this system but also has improved upon a few things that held the first game back a bit for me; after playing this game I hope there will be a next volume and many more to come because Sin and Punishment has potential to become a big franshise if alowed to.

The game does have a story which I thought was decent and I say that because I wasn't really engaged with it or even the characters so much. But that's the point this game is more concerned about the experence and it's a wonderful one at that. I really love the worlds that you rocket past, my favorate was the ocean I love the underwater enviorment and second would have to be the one where your on a hover bike, I always love levels with constant fast movement.

One of the things that make this game stand out is just the simple fact that you really don't see many run and gun shooters like this the only ones similar are "Space Harrier", "Pazer Dragon Trilogy", "Nam 1975", and the criminal underrated/overlooked "Wild Guns". "Sin and Punishment" I feel has perfected the 3-D aspect and the control for it. I love how it has created that illusion of flight, you really believe your flying around like the "Rocketeer". You really have a freedom of movement which I think is great as opposed to most 2-D run in guns where you restrected only to certain directs and the planes you run though, but here you can be in the air or on the ground whenever you want or need to, these options really help create manuverability stratigies.

The game I'll admit is also a rather exausting experences because there is just constant action on every level that just esclates as you get further and it has more boss battles than the game "Shadow of the Colosus". The constant action in the game might make the levels seem hard but there not as long as you keep yourself in motion and on alert. The boss battles aren't too hard but not too easy, there beatable don't get me wrong once you get the patterns down but it does take some practice.

What also instersting is you have your emergancy weapon on both character which are both different and both have unlimited ammo so you don't have to worry about running out however you do have to worry about how much time it takes for the weapon to recharge, and if you get hit it will cause the recharge function to stop so use it wisely. This weapon isn't just an emergancy use only weapon but it's most of the time an equalizer in the game, when you blast with it it give you a tiny window of time to get away and come up with a new quick stratagy.

I also just love how the game actually homages other games due to the design, if you look carefully there there. Like the third level could be to game like "R-Type" and "Wild Guns". Part of a boss battle he hits the wall and diferent kind of blocks fall, could be to all those puzzle games with the same format. The fifth level to "F-Zero", the list goes on. The music on the game is good but most importantly the game's length is reasonable, it took me at least 6 days to beat this game.

Sin and Punishment is right on target.
