Short of a few major glitches, it's a fun game

I'm starting to think SimCity is getting a raw deal now.

When the game launched, I was in agreement with everyone else. The DRM was onerous, and the launch was a catastrophe because of it. And the city sizes were too small.

But I came back to the game a couple of times and tried it again, and it has grown on my substantially. I should note that I've played with others, but I prefer single player.

It still has DRM issues (I've been prevented from getting online a couple of times, and the servers were mostly down during one of them). The design for the game is not ideal, but it's still fun.

I'm not really a fan of the "multiple cities" approach that both SimCity 4 and this new SimCity have adopted. I'd like to just be able to have one city and manage that, but you can't. Different cities have different resources, and there's no way to get around jumping back and forth between your cities. However, it is better implemented in this SimCity than in SimCity 4.

The game moves along at a more satisfying pace than SimCity 4. In that game you usually had to sit around and wait for something to happen, particularly to get some money flow, but in this game, with the speed set on medium the money flows pretty well and you can continue to build and expand.

The game has a different feel than other SimCity games, but it's still SimCity, and most of the improvements are for the better. For example, you no longer have to spend tedious time setting up your water network, that's all taken care of automatically. Same for power.

So all in all, there's really only one gripe I have about the game: The city plots are still just too dang small. I'd like it if they were at least twice as big, and maybe bigger. But the game is fun anyway.
