yeah, this one is OK but definitely not the best in the series.

User Rating: 7.5 | Silent Hill 4: The Room PS2
I've played through four of the Silent Hill games now and this one, by far, is my least favorite. First, the game is just a tad too short. Playing the whole thing through took me only a few days. That makes me sad for a series that really has been one of my favorites.

Another thing I wasn't a big fan of is that, essentially, the game repeats itself, for the most part, for the second half. Having to go through all the same places you've already been again is a lame way to continue a game. Nothing really exciting changes between the different times you had to revisit a location so it made the whole process seem like a copout on Konami's part. I was quite disappointed with this.

Also, this game isn't really a Silent Hill game. It alludes to Silent Hill and all that but it just doesn't carry the weight of the others. Certainly, in the fourth game they likely wanted to try something new but it just wasn't all that innovative or exciting to play. This is actually the first game I almost put down and did not complete due to boredom.

The graphics and sound in this game are typical of the series albeit not quite as creepy. It's also sad that there were, technically, only two real boss fights and they're late in the game and the first one really didn't do anything at all.

I'm a fan of Silent Hill but this one disappoints. If you haven't played the original couple I'd recommend those first if you've never played Silent Hill. They're much, much better.
