Beware your in for a scare, Silent Hill 4 will try and freak you out.

User Rating: 9 | Silent Hill 4: The Room PS2
With Resident Evil series being the king of horror, most people would say that the Silent Hill series is scary as well. If your a fan of the series Silent Hill 4 is one of the creepest games that has alot of freak moments through out certain parts of the game. In Silent Hill 4 you will be playing as the role of Henry Townshend who's been living in his appartment.

But quite recently has been having these wired dreams each night, his appartment door is chained where he can not leave. The only way he can escape his own nightmares is by going through these bizarre worlds in his dreams.

Gameplay: If you've played through the Silent Hill series, the controls feel the same as they were if you've played through Silent Hill 2 and 3. In Silent Hill 4 during gameplay you can only carry and pick up to 10 items which can be abit annoying because you might have to go back and foward to pick up certain key item in order to get through the next part of the game. There are a few riddles and puzzles which you'll have to do in order to get through the next part of the game.

In your in your own room it'll be in first-person but there isn't much to do apart from picking letters and view stuff thats in your appartment. But the rest of the gameplay is in 3rd person but most parts of the game the camrea control can be abit fiddly but it can easily be ignored but certain enemies will pop up out of no where and try knocking you down. Weapons you can use to affend of monsters and spirits are holy candles,an axe, pistol gun, and sword of obediance.

Graphics and Sound: Comparing the graphics from the last two Silent Hill games on the PS2, Silent Hill 4 probably has the best graphics in the series so far. If you have a nervous disposition it would be better to avoid this game because it has alot of graphic violence and most parts of the game will freak you out. But everyone esle who's into horror games you should have no problem getting through the game.

Most areas you'll visit in Silent Hill 4 are creepy but fun to explore. Most of the enemies are new to Silent Hill 4 and will chase you down where ever you go. Bad news is that Pyramaid Headman does not appear in the game.

There isn't much to the soundtrack for Silent Hill 4, but does a nice job on voicing for the charcters and the enemies are creepy and scary that might give you a fright from your seat.

Overall: There are 4 different endings but they can change at the last minute pending on what you do near the end of the game which I'll not spoil for anyone who hasn't had the chance to play Silent Hill 4 yet. You can easily beat the game under 10 hours or less or more pending on how much you want to get out of the game. If your a horror fan Silent Hill 4 is worth checking out but I wouldn't say it's the best game in the series.
