Freakiest games ever

User Rating: 9.1 | Silent Hill 4: The Room PS2
Great games that grab at your heart, and at times it either scares the living hell out of it or makes you cry are hard to come by. This is one of them.

Silent Hill 4 is probably the scariest in the series, with one of the deepest plots, and my personal favourite in the series.

The game isn't as much of about the town as much as it is of one of it's cult followers. In the game you play as Henry Townsend, a handsom goof who happens to be in the wrong room at the wrong time. He wakes up one day to find his door to his apartment is chained shut from the inside and he can't get out. He finds a strange hole in his wall that takes him to weird nightmareish worlds. I really wish I could say more than that but that would be spoiling things. All I can say is the plot centers around a man, a cult, and a room.

The gameplay is 1/3 walking around Henry's room in first person, and 2/3 standard Silent Hill exploration. Except this time to add a bit of challenge to the game you get an inventory limit, meaning if you got to many things in your inventory you go back in your room and put stuff away for later use. The game is creepy as hell, with monsters and environments that really looked like every nightmare I had growing up.

Graphics are very nicely done, one of the few games where I feel graphics actually DO something when they look realistic. I mean you can litterally see Henry's five-o-clock shadow. Sounds is really neat too, well made music and ambience that will mess wth your head.

I recomend this game to anybody who likes Silent Hill, scary stuff, or just plain old adventure games. Just be sure to have a light on when you play it.... I'm not kidding.
