A great SH game, that's well worth a play if your a fan.

User Rating: 8.6 | Silent Hill 3 PS2
Im going to be honest here and say that is isn't the best SH game to date. The only reason this isn't the strongest in the franchise is because it's just too short, and the overall enviroment's that you go threw seem too familiar to SH2. For example: You'll vist the exact same part of the town, James Sunderland did; and i mean the exact same. People may think it's nostalgic, maybe? I found it abit lazy, myself.

One thing this game did very well, is story. It link's up with the first SH outing, and has you play as SH's first female protagonist, Heather Mason. Heather wake's up in a resturant, after having a strange nightmare in Silent Hill's amusement park. She relises she's slept past opening hours, and finds everyone has gone home. As she leaves, she is confronted by a strange old man who say's he's been looking for her. Heather sneak's into the bathroom; because she's freaked out. And this is where the nightmare begins.
The story telling really is strong in this one; if a little more clear, out of the four japanese developed games. Graphically, it's one of the best looking PS2. And goes more out there than, SH 2 did: with blood stained walls, and overall, a more gory red pallet of colours. Character models are supurbly designed: you can see the pours, feckles etc on the characters faces. And they used real actors to do the motion's this time round as well; so they move more life like in the cutscenes.

The overall gameplay remains the same as the previous games: collect key, find door code, etc. But they've moved for more to gunplay this time -as opposed to SH 2's more melee weapon's. Heather has a health selection of fire arms to choose from. Such as: 9mm, Sub machine gun, shotgun, revolver. And there is also a healthy selection of secret weapons to unlock; which i won't say if you don't know, because they are cool :D.
I can also say, that this game -out of all the other SH games that have come out in the past. None have scared me as much as a certain scene did in this one. I sh*t you not, i felt my heart fall out my mouth when it happened; and im getting a chill just typing it now, haha. So it's not without it's memorable moments.

Graphics: This is one of the top dog's for good looking PS2 games. Everything about looks amazing. 8.5

Sound: Supurb voice acting, great musical score and chilling sound FX's, make this one of the strongest. 9.

Gameplay: Identical to SH 2 in terms of gameplay, but there are slight variation's to this one. 8

Sh*te Box: Wayyyy to short. A little samey. Harry has been turned into a pu*sy in this game. :(

Overall: A great horror game; that any fan should play at least once. While it is a little on the short side, the amount of replay value is massive. Unlocking T-shirts alone, will add a few hours to its life. It's not the best in the series, but it's a great game all the same.

Value: 10-15 Pounds.
